Searching for Comics Artwork on NFT platforms in early 2022, there was nothing to be found.
Weird that no one was tapping the creative power of cartoonists and illustrators whose material would be ideal to be offered as NFTs.
So wet set our minds on developing a community to present contemporary (and hopefully stunning) comics artwork as NFTs.
Soon the idea of the Electric Comics Club was born.
A platform to showcase inventive artists, bring them together with an audience and (in general) shock you with their quality – bzzzzzzzt!
The ECC aims not only to please, but to cooperate with all the players on the Comics Market. We are open to contributions and digital concepts of any kind.

Dieser Mangel setzte bei uns die Idee des Electric Comics Clubs frei. Seit Frühjahr 2022 machen wir uns daran, die Idee in die Tat umzusetzen und stetig zu verbessern. Der Electric Comics Club präsentiert NFT-Comickunst – transparent, offen und engagiert.
Ziel ist es, eine möglichst große Öffentlichkeit für das Thema Comickunst zu elektrisieren – bzzzzzt – und Künstler und Sammler zusammenzubringen.
Dazu kooperiert der Club mit allen relevanten Institutionen in der Comicszene, unterhält ein professionelles und persönliches Netzwerk und baut sein virtuelles Netzwerk permanent weiter aus.

In Germany, where the Electric Comics Club was founded, only a few creatives make a living by drawing comic stories.
Hundreds of talented artists have to produce this wonderful art in their spare time.
By playing the NFT market, they can generate some extra money and concentrate more on the artistic output.
The Electric Comics Club guarantees them a big chunk of NFT sales plus royalties on further sales.
Let’s rally a community of people who love Comic Art in a digital format and who appreciate the visions behind it.

Weshalb NFT-Kunst?
Alle, die Comics machen, sollten mit ihrer Kunst so viel Geld verdienen können, dass sie auf Brotjobs verzichten können.
Nur ganz wenige Comickreative haben das bisher im deutschsprachigen Raum verwirklichen können.
Denn die Auflagen der gedruckten Comichefte sind überschaubar und endlich. NFTs hingegen sichern fortlaufende Tantiemenzahlungen.
Wer sich uns anvertraut, ist gut beraten. Denn der Electric Comics Club ist Ideengeber zur Erschließung des NFT-Markts sowie Scout für aktuelle Comickunst mit Mehrwert.

Prospective buyers create their portfolio by following and liking our activities – and eventually buying some art, of course.
We present a range from clean line-art to artistic sketching, always providing context. Strictly no AI!

Tillmann Courth
Our curator is a true comics fiend. An avid reader of comics books since childhood, Tillmann was interested early on, how comics came into being.
Studying the history of Comic Art, he was an expert at the age of 17. Finding no use for this expertise in real life, he went on to become a cultural journalist and art critic.
The blogging craze of web 2.0 made him relapse into his addiction for comics – as contributors to the platform „Comicoskop“ and print magazine „Comixene“ and operator of his own website www.tillmanncourth.de (all in German) about comics.
Meanwhile Tillmann is hosting events, giving lectures on comics phenomena, doing interviews with artists and posting reviews on Instagram.
And now he’s dealing with NFTs, too – yikes!
Tillmann beschäftigt sich seit Kindertagen mit Comics, ihrer Geschichte und den Menschen, die sie produzieren. Über Umwege als Feuilletonredakteur und Kabarettist fand er zurück zu seiner Leidenschaft für die „Neunte Kunst“.
Seit 2015 betreibt er seine Website für Comickultur (www.tillmanncourth.de) und ist Mitarbeiter beim Onlineportal „Comicoskop“ sowie beim Printmagazin „Comixene“.
Tillmann moderiert Gespräche und Lesungen und hält Vorträge auf Comicfestivals.
Darüber hinaus diskutiert er mit Hella von Sinnen und Gästen beim „ComicTalk“ auf YouTube und führt die Interviews mit Comicschaffenden aller Couleur.
Jetzt ist er auch noch Comicgalerist – ächz!
Dirk Schmelz
Dirk can olnly be described as creative allround-talent.
A filmer, a director, a photo journalist, a web designer – always interested in new solutions and the progress of digital media.
Comics were part of his childhood, too, having spent a lot of time and money in the comic book stores of Hamburg.
Then travels and jobs all over Europe ensued: Aix-la-Chapelle, Gent, Brussels and Berlin.
Apart from comics, Dirk takes interest in movies, contemporary music and art in general.
Being a sceptic concernig the new AI-art-fad, Dirk puts his energy into the human-centered concept of the Electric Comics Club.
He’s fascinated by Art-NFTs – yeah!
Dirk ist ein kreativer Tausendsassa, der sich als Filmemacher, Fotojournalist, Onlineredakteur der ersten Stunde und als Profi in den digitalen Medien immer wieder bewiesen hat.
Schon seit Kindertagen von Comics begeistert, verbrachte viel Zeit in den Comicläden in Hamburg Anfang der 90er-Jahre, danach in Bochum, Aachen, Amsterdam, Gent, Brüssel und Berlin. Zu seinen weiteren kulturellen Leidenschaften zählen die Neue Musik, das Kino und die zeitgenössische Kunst.
Seit einigen Jahren beschäftigt er sich mit der künstlerischen Kreativität und dem Schaffensprozess. Er bevorzugt einen „klaren Strich“ und gewagte neue Entwürfe.
Darum ist er jetzt von NFTs fasziniert – keuch!
